River Levels

The river levels are obviously very important in the life of our quarry, they have a balance to maintain in the environment. Our choice of swim can be heavily influenced by the hight of the river and flow levels which result, the fish also move with these differences.

Generally if the river is carrying a little extra water then barbel will feed, and more over “travel” covering lots of riverbed to find food. So a smelly bait near to a holding station can produce great results. The fish will feed better at different points of a river`s rise and fall depending on which river, and the circumstances.

It`s always worth keeping an eye on the river levels when choosing where and when, and indeed “whether” you are going to fish.
